PRIVATE AND CORPORATE COMMISSIONS

Djooken Djilba Art creates artwork that is unique to each client. I encourage clients to inform me about an aspect of their life that the artwork is going to represent/symbolise as this is to ensure that I incorporate different symbols to help tell your story. Please note that I will not accept very specific design requests as this will restrict and limit my creativity flowing naturally. I as the artist will retain full control over the final artwork.

If you are searching Djooken Djilba Art gallery, shop, or socials accounts for inspiration please choose no more than 2 pieces - this is plenty for me to get clarity around your desired style. List the piece names in the message box below.

    Noongar six seasons ☀️🍂❄️🌧🌿🌾

The Noongar calendar has six (6) seasons which complete the cycle journey around the sun. The six (6) seasons in a Noongar year are described by changes in weather which affect food resources available, changes in flora and fauna, and sheltering options. The Noongar people are traditionally aware of the availability to certain foods during each season. Families would travel in groups to source main food types for and during each season. They would also migrate to different locations depending on the weather, to hold their ceremonies and large group meetings. The Noongar people were one with the earth. They had and still have a deep understanding of the natural eco-system and being part of it. Noongar people knew when to harvest, gather, and socialise based on the nature around them. These traditions are still practiced today.

It is important to recognise that while we have contextualised the seasons by matching them to the corresponding months in the contemporary calendar, they do not necessarily always match perfectly.

The changes in seasons were recognised by Noongar people by signals in the landscape, whether it is the changes in the direction in prevailing winds, the flowering of a particular plant species, or a particular time in the breeding cycles of insects, reptiles, native animals and birds.

    Un-stretched Canvas Sheet

This client requested an artwork that symbolises individual growth and constant knowledge receiving.

Four (4) streams represent; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The streams are designed asymmetrically as recognition that we receive growth in these areas in different ways/time throughout our lives.

This artwork is a representation of Boorloo (Perth), my home/birth city. I felt very connected to this piece right from the very beginning! It has been almost one year since I moved up North, the first time I’ve ever lived away from Perth and this artwork was a sense of home for me.

The top of the painting represents the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River). The middle represents two meeting places of which are North of the River and South, connected by the Native plants Eucalyptus and Banksia, which can be found on Noongar Boodja. The bottom of the artwork represents the hills and mountains East of Perth.
